 TIPS FOR SUMMER TIME

HOT DOG IN THE CITY
DON'T FORGET WHO'S WEARING SHOES AND WHO ISN'T. CONCRETE CAN HEAT UP FAST AND COULD INJURE YOU DOG'S PADS. TRY TO LET YOU 4 LEGGED FRIEND WALK IN THE GRASS OR THE SHADE VERSES THE CONCRETE OR SLIP ON SUM SLIPPERS.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE SNUB NOSE BREEDS THAT WE OWN CAN OVERHEAT IN THE SUN FASTER THAN OTHER BREEDS, ALTHOUGH ANY DOG CAN SUFFER FROM HEAT STROKE.  NO HEAVY EXERCISE DURING THE HOTTEST TIME OF DAY . THE USE OF A RUBBER CURRY COMB HELPS WITH THE SHEDDING AND DON'T FORGET THE FLEA AND TICK TREATMENT .

LIFE IS A BEACH
SAND IS A WORKOUT TO RUN IN AND GREAT FOR DIGGING BUT GROOMING IS A MUST AFTER A DAY AT THE BEACH. A GOOD BATH AFTER A LONG DAY AT THE BEACH , BEACH SAND CAN BE TENACIOUS. SALT WATER IS NOT A GOOD SOURCE OF DRINKING WATER FOR YOUR POOCH , SO MAKE SURE TO BRING CLEAN WATER FOR THEM TO DRINK THROUGHOUT THE DAY , AND DON'T FORGET THE SUNSCREEN THE LIGHTER DOGS CAN BURN EASILY ( NOSE) , GIVE HIM THAT LIFEGUARD LOOK. DOGGY SUNSCREEN PLEASE INCASE HES A LICKER.

COOL IN THE POOL
TO MUCH CHLORINE CAN WRECK A DOGS COAT AND SKIN .  MORE SUNSCREEN ON THE NOSE AND EARS. AFTER THE DIP IN THE POOL , RINSE YOUR BULLY WITH FRESH WATER AND A GENTLE SHAMPOO. CONCRETE DECKS AGAIN CAN GET REALLY HOT FAST. OUCH AND FRESH WATER FOR THEM TO DRINK. THEY SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE SOME EXIT TO COME OUT OF THE POOL STEPS , RAMP, ETC. IF YOUR POOCH IS NOT A  GOOD SWIMMER A LIFE VEST MAY BE IN ORDER . PLEASE REMEMBER DOGS , PUPPYS ARE LIKE KIDS THEY SHOULD NEVER BE LEFT ALONE UNSUPERVISED BY A POOL.

A SUMMER OF FUN IS A SUMMER OF GROOMING, BUT IF YOU PROTECT HIS COAT AND SKIN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE THEN THESE DOG DAYS COULD BE THE BEST OF THE YEAR.

The World of Bully Shows

So wanting to start showing your bullys in the show ring don't know where to start , I will share with you some of our tips in the ring to help get you going. 1. Please bathe your dog , noone wants to see a dirty dog in the show ring, go all out and spit shine them bullys nails ,ears & coat. Try to bathe your bullys the night before . To shine their coat before going into the ring there are sprays to shine their coat or you can just wipe them down with a wet baby wipe before entering the show ring. 2. If you are showing a xl bully and they have a hard time keeping their footing on the concrete floor , you can spray a little aqua net hair spray on the bottoms of their paws to give them a little better footing ,so they aren't slipping and sliding all over. 3. Try to walk your bully around the show once or twice or in the show ring before they start the show espically if the bully is new to the show ring this will help him with the nerves, but not to much walking around as shows can be exhausting for the dogs espically in the warmer weather. 4. Keep your bullys head up in the show ring, keep the nose off the ground. You can use some kind of tempting treat in one hand to try and keep their head up . 5. Most of all practice , practice , practice you need to practice stacking your bully at home . Learn the faults of your dog, keep an open mind and see your dog through other peoples eyes , in our eyes all our dogs are the best , but keep it real and learn your faults so you can correct it in the show ring.

Doggy Diet Raw or Kibble

To feed a raw diet or commercial kibble ?

Here at Topdogbullies we do both , we have been through numerous kinds of commercial dog food and have come to like the brand Diamond, we have been feeding raw diet also to all of our dogs for a few years and love it, I am actually thinking about going to raw altogether.

Here are some of the reasons I have found raw to be better.

1. They absolutely love it, I have seen some the pickiest eaters have no problem on a raw diet. We can open our dogs kennels in the evening to put them up and they all go straight to kennels to wait for their chicken they would not do that for kibble.

2. No vet visits for teeth cleaning, which if you show your dogs can save you a lot of money.

3. Better health all together, raw gives them more energy, can clear up allergies in a lot of dogs , makes their coat shiny and eyes bright.

4. Raw also helps build muscle in neck and jaws for bullies.

5. This is one of the best reasons ,if you are a breeder like me and have a few dogs than I am sure you pick up a lot of poo, well raw diet makes for less poo and what does come out is firm and turns chalky, it will make your life so much easier.

6. Raw is cheaper than kibble , I know I buy it both. You can ask your local butcher for leftovers, or if you are near a processing plant that is the best place. I can buy 33lbs of leg thigh quarters for 15.00

Now for a couple good but crazy questions I have been asked from people after they have found out I feed raw.
1. Here's the crazy question (in my eyes) Does feeding your bully raw meat make them vicious or mean or want to bite ?
No , no and no. Please if you fed your cat or yorkie raw meat do think it will want to do the same, I know that question sounds silly but I have been asked that at least a dozen times.

2. Will it make my dog sick?
You have to remember dogs are not people , their digestive systems are different from ours.
Feeding raw should not make your dog sick, remember dogs come from wolves all breeds and wolves don't to the store to buy kibble.

3. Is it ok to feed to puppies and pregnant bitches?
Pregnant bitches yes , we also give the yogurt for calcium.
We do feed our puppies raw and kibble , I want my puppies to eat both and let their new parents decide what fits best in their lifestyle.
We feed our puppies diamond puppy food and satin balls recipe for raw ,as the puppies grow and get their permanent teeth in then we start feeding them the chicken quarters .

So after going back and reading this , I myself am not sure why I haven't went to raw completely .
What do you think raw or kibble , it's something to think about.....

Just remember never ever to feed your bully cooked bones, this can cause major problems.
Keep it raw , bone and all and they will be fine.
